Testimonials

“I was in the market for some land so I reached out to an old high school friend, Colby Watson. I sent him a text to let him know that I was looking. He immediately sent a reply that he’d see what he could find. Within about eight hours he was reaching back out to me, sending over a property I may be interested in. He spoke with the other realtor and did everything needed to get it setup to go take a look. We went to cruise the property and it was just what I was looking for. After looking at an additional property down the road, I knew the first one was the one my heart was set on. He went to work right away, making calls, and getting things in order. He answered questions that I didn’t even think to ask. Making everything very easy. We put in an offer and and negotiated the contract. We stayed in contact for a few weeks until the closing date. I had a solid experience with him throughout the process as well as a smooth transaction at closing. I will recommend him to anyone of my friends or family looking for land in the future. Great realtor to do business with. A+ experience overall.” Ryan W. Charlie did a fantastic job finding my partner and myself the land we were looking for. In spite of Covid-19 quarantine and a week long winter storm, he got it done with very little delay. We would certainly recommend him and look forward to working with him on our next venture.” Burroughs and Davis “We had our house on the market for approximately 18 months when a friend recommended Ellen Smith. This recommendation was taken, and the house sold in approximately seven months. We were really impressed with the amount of marketing and personal hands-on approach from Ellen. And, to demonstrate our trust and appreciation of the excellent service, we have already referred a friend to the company. Our goal is to continue referring people but only if they really wish to sell their property. Congratulations to the Tom Smith Land and Homes company as they truly understand the need for excellent customer service at all levels of their organization.” Fred and Evelyn C. “I want to tell about my excellent experiences in dealing with Michael Halfacre over many years. I have been doing business with Michael for at least 20 or more years. In his capacity as a registered consulting forester, he has aided me in managing my timber and in bringing buyers to the table when it was time to sell timber. Michael has also been very pleasant to work with, professional and hard working when I enlisted his services to sell several of my properties. He actively promoted my land and was successful in making the sales, the most recent of which were 2 parcels of timber/recreational land in Attala County, MS. I can recommend Michael's services without reservation. Feel free to use me as a reference.” W Ford, MD “The morning of July 2nd, 2021, was when I saw a Facebook post by Bruce West, whom I had known for many years and worked with in the Emmaus Walk Ministry, saying that he had changed careers, was now a Realtor, and if anyone needed to buy or sell property, he’d be glad to talk to them about representation. I texted him that I was indeed interested in selling my home at Brownspur.  Bruce and Gwendolyn lived about ten miles south of me in Hollandale, just down the street from my brother Beau. He called back that afternoon and made an appointment to come by Monday to look at my homestead, which consisted of a big two-story 1898 Plantation Home, with nearly 6000 sq. ft. under roof and an 1800 sq. ft. guest house connected by a covered walkway, all on six acres, including an old-fashioned sand-bottomed Swimming Hole with a shooting range behind it. Betsy and I had listed Brownspur several times in the past few years after all our kids got out from underfoot, intending to move to smaller quarters in our Golden Years, but had never gotten a serious offer.  She had passed away suddenly the week after our 55th Anniversary, six months before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. I viewed that as an opportunity to catch it and die, to go be with Betsy, so had done absolutely nothing to the house and yard in over two years since her death.  Bruce advised me to go with a “Buy-As-Is” approach, and we signed an agreement for representation Tuesday morning. He e-mailed me Thursday morning that he was showing it to a couple at 5:30 that afternoon.  Monday morning he called to say that he had an offer, so I met him early Tuesday.  The couple had offered less than we had listed it for, but three other people had contacted him over the weekend to say they were interested in looking at Brownspur.  What did I want to do? "Let’s make them a counter-offer, halfway the difference,” I suggested.  He nodded and dialed where we stood in the parking lot of the Double Quik gas station in Leland. He never got off the phone: “They took it,” he exclaimed! I had no idea how much paperwork was involved by so many parties from North Carolina to Nashville, Tennessee, to Leland, Greenwood, Cleveland, Brownspur, to Sumner where I now live, re-married to Cindy, Betsy’s former Ole Miss roommate.  Bruce took care of dotting all the i’s and crossing all the t’s, thank the Lord. We closed on August 24th. What a fantastic experience it was, selling my home on the plantation I’d grown up on for 77 years, through my Realtor and Friend, Bruce West!Robert N.
