Barry Holt

I love the land. I always have. As a young boy growing up in Attala County, my days were filled with woods, fields, and exploration. I breathed the life that nature provides. Eventually, my family spent several years in south Louisiana, expanding my love for fishing and the outdoors.

Joining the US Air Force in 1980, I served honorably as an air traffic control supervisor. Those years in Japan highlighted by appointment as the ATC liaison for the U-2 and SR71 reconnaissance operations. Nothing but excitement! I transitioned from military service to a career in air traffic control with the Federal Aviation Administration, working “live traffic” at numerous airports across the US, ultimately positioned at FAA Headquarters in Washington, DC. I’ve maintained a top-secret clearance throughout my career.

Since 1990, Edwards, MS has been home, where I’ve had the honor of serving as Mayor.

Perseverance and follow-through are two traits that have advanced me through life. I love the task and its completion. This is who I am. However, the demands of life require relief and I know the place that settles my soul, it’s the land!

This green state of Mississippi, so blessed with beauty, wildlife and rich soil, is a wonderful place to live. There is a place for you…that place that “settles the soul”, let me help you find it. Whether buying or selling, I will work wholeheartedly on your behalf, you have my word. I maintain a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ and have tremendous gratitude to our great nation.

Since 1984, I’ve traveled this journey with my wife and co-adventurer Karen, daughter Elsa, her husband Jess and our four spectacular grandchildren.

Adam Hester

Adam was born and raised in Attala County in the small town of Sallis, MS. After high school, he attended Holmes Community College for two years before transferring to Mississippi College where he received his B.S. in Kinesiology. He began working at Mississippi Sports Medicine after he graduated in 2009. He worked under the guidance of orthopedic surgeons for 7 years before deciding to pursue a career that would get him out from behind the walls and into his element…the outdoors.

Not only is he an avid outdoorsman, he has a love and passion for the outdoors. He was brought up hunting, riding horses and just being outdoors in general. He was taught at a young age to respect the dirt under your feet and utilize it however you can. Adam was raised to treat the person next to you the way you want to be treated, work hard for what you have and put God first in your family. He fits the profile of a “good, home-grown country boy”. Whether he is sitting in a tree stand in Mississippi, chasing turkeys in Kansas or just riding down a dirt road with his wife and daughter, he always seems to find himself in awe of the playground the Lord has given. His love for the land, drive to help others, and the attention he believes people deserve is what makes him the right agent for you.

In 2010, Adam married the former Gail Bankston, who was born and raised in Carroll County. They share an equal love for the outdoors and enjoy spending time together hunting and fishing. In 2016, they welcomed their daughter Adelyn Grace into the world. Adam and his family are residents of Madison, MS.

Sam Sample

My name is Sam Sample, and I reside in Holmes County, Mississippi. I am a Realtor and one of several land specialists with Tom Smith Land and Homes. My family and I have lived on our farm for the past 40 years, and I personally have lived here all my life. I attended public and private school in Holmes County, as well as Junior College. I met my wife while attending college, and we immediately returned to my family’s farm to make our home. Regardless of what some may see as an economically disadvantaged area, it has never entered my mind to move my family away from this area. What others see in Holmes County as remote and out of the mainstream is the very thing that continues to keep me attracted to this area. I worked for an electric power association for 23 years in Holmes, Humphries, Yazoo, Warren, Sharkey and Issaquena counties. I have been an insurance associate since 2002. My past work experience has enabled me to pursue my primary interest and passion, which is a genuine love for the land. I am the owner operator of a family farm producing cattle, timber and hay. My farm also provides recreational activities such as hunting, fishing and hiking. Because of this, I feel I am uniquely qualified to represent your interest in buying or selling residential, recreational or agricultural land. When the time comes to offer your home or land for sale or when you need assistance in locating the perfect property, please consider me and the team of land specialist at Tom Smith Land and Homes. I will be glad to meet with you to discuss your land and home interests. I am looking forward to your call.
