Growing up in Leland, MS and now residing in Starkville, Mississippi, Leland’s passion for hunting and fishing remains strong. After Graduating from Indianola Academy in 2022, Leland is pursuing a Business Finance degree at Mississippi State University. His interest in real estate blossomed during a summer working at Tom Smith Land and Homes as an office assistant. Michael graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in Forestry in 1983. Since that time he has enjoyed a career as a Registered Forester, and a Real Estate Broker in Mississippi since 1986. He held a license as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Mississippi for a portion of that time. He has assisted private landowners in timber, farm and wildlife land management and sales for over thirty years. He has served as President of Halfacre Consulting Inc. working out of Louisville, Mississippi.

His passion is developing long-term relationships with landowners built on a high level of trust and integrity. Many of his management clients have enjoyed his services for over 25 years.

He has experienced an increase in demand for assistance in locating, evaluating and acquiring timber and recreational properties over the last 10 years. Changes in markets have demanded the necessity of careful evaluation and resulted in a greater number of landowners and investors needing a knowledgeable, reputable partner. He actively serves as an Agent for buyers desiring to purchase properties and as an Agent for Owners in liquidating properties. A considerable amount of his time is spent with landowners looking at property and discussing current timber market conditions, analyzing investment potential and determining management alternatives for his clients. He has taught a number of forest management and timber appraisal classes for private landowners, financial institutions and other Real Estate professionals.
