Doyes Holland

Doyes was born and raised in Hamilton, Alabama approximately 15 miles from the MS state line. He obtained a B.S. in Forestry from Mississippi State University in 1975. Ten years later, he completed a Masters of Forestry with emphasis in forest taxation also from Mississippi State. While in graduate school he assisted Dr. G.H. Weaver with the initial research in land use valuation for taxation for MS timberlands.

Doyes’ forestry career began in 1977 working for Cavenham Industries in Hazlehurst, MS and Livingston Parrish, LA.  He then was employed with Southern Resource Services and Forest Owners, Inc. assisting private landowners in Mississippi with all aspects of timberland management from timber sale preparation to control burning to wildlife management and timberland market analysis thru affiliation with Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.  In 1988 he began his 30+ year affiliation with Weyerhaeuser Company Southern Timberlands where he held various leadership positions in Procurement at the offices in Bruce and Philadelphia, MS. Doyes later served as Harvest Planner for the western division of Weyerhauser MS/AL region in Columbus, MS until his retirement in September 2018.  In the spring of 2021, he joined the Starkville team of Tom Smith Land and Homes.

Doyes and his wife Kay are residents of Starkville and have three grown children (and their wonderful spouses) and seven grandchildren. They have attended New Covenant Church in Starkville for more than 40 years. Doyes and Kay also own and operate Bops Frozen Custard in Starkville.  For many years, the Holland’s owned hunting land in Lawrence County, MS where their children experienced hunting and the outdoors. When not at work, you can find Doyes with his family at their tree farm in Choctaw County working on food plots or at their lake house on Smith Lake. Doyes hopes to use his real estate and timberland background to see other families make memories outdoors.

Harper Day

What attracted Harper to Tom Smith Land and Homes is his love and passion for the outdoors. Since childhood, Harper has never turned down an opportunity to hunt or fish with his friends and family. Originally from Starkville, MS, he attended Mississippi State University where he majored in Business Administration and minored in Real Estate. Upon graduation, Harper knew he wanted to combine his love of the outdoors and passion for helping others, so he pursued a career in real estate. Harper currently resides in Webster County where he enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. John DelPapa

John was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he found a great passion for the outdoors. It was his love for the outdoors that drove him to Mississippi State University, where he earned a B.S. in Forestry with a concentration in Wildlife Management in 2020. While there, John took every opportunity he could to learn about land and the wildlife that lives there.

After graduation, John decided to pursue a career in real estate, using his degree and knowledge of the outdoors to connect buyers and sellers with their dream home or property. John works as a full-time Mississippi and Alabama real estate salesperson and would love to help you with any of your buying or selling needs.

Pres Dawkins

Pres Dawkins was born in Artesia, Mississippi, and at an early age, his family moved to a small farm in Brooksville, Mississippi. After high school, he attended East Mississippi Junior College on a football scholarship and went on to graduate from Mississippi State University with a master’s degree in education. He has eight years’ experience building residential homes and another twenty-one years of running his own business. He is now a middle school teacher and former high school baseball coach.

Pres and his wife, Pam, raised two beautiful, athletic girls, Alex and Corey, where they built a house on the family farm in Brooksville. He and Pam both enjoyed coaching their girls in sports from pee-wee age through high school. Pres loves to be outdoors hunting, fishing, and occasionally golfing, in what he calls “God’s Country” because he can be at either of those places in minutes.

Tom Wiseman

Tom has lived in New Albany all his life. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1985 with a BS in Forestry and is a Registered Forester and Certified General Appraiser. He retired from the Right of Way Division of the Mississippi Department of Transportation in 2014 with 29 years as a staff appraiser, review appraiser and forester.

Tom and his wife, Veronica, and their two children, Daniel and Patricia are all active within The First Baptist Church New Albany. Tom is an avid outdoorsman and is very involved with the Trail Life USA Troop MS-356. His outdoor activities also include hunting, fishing, bicycling and golf. With a passion for the outdoors and being raised on the land, he is an excellent choice to assist you in finding the perfect place for your family’s next home or tract of land.

Michael Cooper

A great love of the outdoors brought Michael to Tom Smith. Michael has been an avid outdoorsman and sportsman since childhood. At Mississippi State University, Michael pursued his interests of land management and animal science by earning a degree in Biological Sciences.

After graduation, Michael began working for the United States Forest Service maintaining National Forests. He has also served as a Wildland firefighter in the western United States and Alaska. Michael and his wife, Lauren Ann, also own a retail store, LA Green, in downtown Starkville, MS. With Michael’s combined land education and business background, he is ready to help you with all your land and home needs.

Originally from Ackerman, MS, Michael and his wife currently reside in Starkville, MS with their sons, Rhett and Westin. He and his family are members of Starkville First Baptist Church, where he and his wife serve as Sunday School teachers. Michael also enjoys fishing, hunting, and small craftsman projects.

Michael Halfacre

Michael graduated from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in Forestry in 1983. Since that time he has enjoyed a career as a Registered Forester, and a Real Estate Broker in Mississippi since 1986. He held a license as a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Mississippi for a portion of that time. He has assisted private landowners in timber, farm and wildlife land management and sales for over thirty years. He has served as President of Halfacre Consulting Inc. working out of Louisville, Mississippi.

His passion is developing long-term relationships with landowners built on a high level of trust and integrity. Many of his management clients have enjoyed his services for over 25 years.

He has experienced an increase in demand for assistance in locating, evaluating and acquiring timber and recreational properties over the last 10 years. Changes in markets have demanded the necessity of careful evaluation and resulted in a greater number of landowners and investors needing a knowledgeable, reputable partner.
