Tyson was born and raised in south Baldwin County, Alabama, where he grew up and worked on the family’s row crop and beef cattle farm operation. Tyson attended private catholic school from K-12th grade. After high school, he attended Auburn University where he received his bachelors of science in forestry and a minor in business. After Auburn University, Tyson passed the Alabama State Board Registered Foresters examination, and became a licensed state forester. In 2007, Tyson formed his own land management company, and soon after became a procurement forester. As a procurement forester, he specialized in buying timber tracts and seeing the delivery of timber to log and pulp markets.
Becoming a state licensed forester specializing in procurement taught Tyson to identify land professionally and its qualities as it pertains to client’s objectives. In addition to his extensive timber procurement experience, it has made him very proficient at valuing timber and all its management aspects.
Tyson has one son John, and resides in Elberta, Alabama. Tyson and his son, John enjoy spending their time saltwater fishing, boating on the gulf coast, working on the family farm, tending the cattle operations, and are avid dove hunters.
Obviously, Tyson loves working with all aspects of land, so becoming a Land Specialist for Tom Smith Land and Homes is a perfect fit. Tyson is confident that he has developed the skill set, expertise, and professionalism required to serve his clients to the fullest capacity as a land specialist.
